Amanda’s Story

Amanda Foong’s love of baking was inspired by her mother at an early age. She would sit perched atop the kitchen counter as her mum whipped up the most delectable desserts with ease. The sweet smells that filled the kitchen were enough to make anyone fall in love. But while she was mesmerized by the world of baking and pastry arts at the time, she would never have imagined that it would become her life’s passion.

Then one day, as fate would have it, everything changed. While studying for her psychology exams she received a phone call from Katrina, a family friend. With less than two weeks before her big day and no available cake maker in sight, Katrina asked Amanda if she would be willing to attempt to make her a wedding cake – no pressure!

Amanda teamed up with her sister and created a beautiful three tiered fondant cake with fresh florals. Not bad for a first attempt at working with fondant she thought, can’t wait to do this again! Before she knew it, one referral led to another. Suddenly, what began as a hobby, making cakes for family and friends, blossomed into a love affair for all things art and pastry. In 2013, Amanda Foong Cakes was born.

Today the talented cake artist and pastry chef draws inspiration from art, fashion, nature and architecture. She is known for her handmade sugar flowers which are carefully crafted petal-by-petal and painted to perfection. Amanda has become synonymous with edible works of art created for any and every occasion. Her designs aim to elevate traditional cake forms into modern, luxurious confections.

Her stunning creations are consistently featured in national publications including: Wedluxe, Elegant Wedding Magazine, Today’s Bride, and Weddingbells.
