During this Sugar Flowers class, we will teach you how to make Old English Roses and Peonies.
You will learn the skills and techniques for making these flowers, how to work confidently with flower paste and how to use sugar flower tools. We will cover everything you need to know to make these flowers during the class and at home; how to build and construct them, colour your sugar flower paste and use colouring dusts to achieve realistic colours. You will also learn how to safely attach them to a cake.
You will come away from the class with a selection of stunning sugar flowers ready to apply to any of your own creations at home. In our friendly and relaxed studio, you are encouraged to ask us any baking and decorating questions you can think of. Rosalind and the team are always happy to pass on their tips of the trade and industry know-how.
What you will learn:
- How to make and work confidently with sugar flower paste – colouring and using the essential tools (cutters and veiners) – to create the petals and flower centres
- How to construct the sugar flowers
- How to realistically colour the sugar flowers once assembled with edible colour dusts
- How to wire your sugar flowers and attach them to a cake

Our nearest station is Brockley (2 mins walk). We are less than 10 minutes from London Bridge (National Rail trains), and Canada Water (London Overground).
When you come out of the station, cross over the bridge and exit onto Mantle Road. Turn right and walk past the Nisa shop and under the railway bridge. Turn left on to Endwell Road, and Dragonfly Place is the second turning on your left (after the ‘Brockley Cross Business Centre’ and opposite ‘Quick Stop Shop’). We are in the middle building on the right opposite the grass.
Dragonfly Place is a new build and does not come up on all Sat Navs. If it does not show up on your Sat Nav put in Endwell Road, SE4 (we are opposite ‘Quick Stop Shop’ and next to the ‘Brockley Business Centre’).
There is free parking available on Endwell Road and nearby streets.
